Rabat – Danish start-up MoveNation has recently added Morocco’s red city, Marrakech, to its list of the best cities for relocation in the world.
Elena Zala, who is a member of the MoveNation team, told Morocco World News: “This year, Marrakech has made [it to] our list together with cities such as Alicante, Bilbao, Bangkok and many other destinations around the world for the incredible resources they offer.”
Zala indicated that the destinations are selected depending on several criteria, including quality of life, investment opportunities, safety, living cost, hospitality, and “level of English spoken.”
MoveNation is a Denmark-based search engine for country relocation. It helps users of the service to find retirement destinations.
According to MoveNation’s website, the search engine offers users “an instant financial overview of all the options that other nations have to offer,” in order to “help more people move from expensive cities to less expensive cities or towns.”

Launched in 2021, MoveNations aims to “help one million people move to a new country” by “reconfiguring the way societies are built,” Zala added.
Marrakech is one of Morocco’s leading travel destinations. This summer, the red city has been the most popular holiday destination among French tourists, according to travel search engine Liligo.
In July, Marrakech was named the world’s tenth most romantic city, travel blog UCity Guides reported. The red city “offers 1001 nights of sensory pleasures to be shared with a special someone,” the blog said.
Earlier this year, travel magazine Conde Nast Traveller featured the Moroccan city among the top 10 Friendliest Cities in the World. The magazine, which ranked Marrakech in third place, highlighted the iconic city’s mix of traditional beauty and touch of modernity.
Several celebrities chose to spend their 2022 vacations in Marrakech, including Paris Saint Germain player Kylian Mbappe, Algerian football player Riyad Mahrez, Hollywood actor Liam Hemsworth, and American actress Lucy Hale.
