Marrakech – The 2024 MTV VMAs are just around the corner, and while live performances from Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, and host Megan Thee Stallion are reason enough to watch, there is much more to the epic night’s buzz.

Will Taylor Swift show up with Travis Kelce? (We’re guessing he’s busy with football!) And could Eminem make VMA history?

Here’s everything you need to know before the big night.

The 2024 MTV VMAs are set for Wednesday, September 11, at 8 p.m. EST. Originally scheduled for September 10, the date was shifted to avoid clashing with the presidential debate.

In honor of the date’s significance, MTV will donate proceeds from the event to 9/11 Day and Tuesday’s Children.

This year, the MTV VMAs will take center stage at Long Island’s UBS Arena, a change of scenery after several years at New Jersey’s Prudential Center.

MTV has revealed an exciting lineup of performers, featuring pop powerhouses like Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Halsey, Megan Thee Stallion (who’s also hosting and nominated this year), Lenny Kravitz, Shawn Mendes, Rauw Alejandro, LL Cool J, Karol G, GloRilla, Anitta, Benson Boone, and Lisa.

And who knows? There might just be some surprise celebrity appearances to take the night to the next level.

Taylor Swift is leading the pack with an impressive 12 nominations, putting her in prime position to become the most-awarded woman in VMA history by surpassing Beyonce’s solo record of 25 wins (or 29, counting her work with Destiny’s Child and Jay-Z).

Swift has already snagged 23 wins in her career. Also in the multiple-nominee spotlight are Post Malone, Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter, and Eminem, who, with six nominations, could potentially become the most-awarded male artist in VMA history, and he’s currently at 13 wins.

If you’re a cord-cutter and can’t catch the VMAs live on MTV, don’t fret!

FuboTV, Hulu+ Live TV, and Sling TV are all offering free trials so you can stream every thrilling moment of the show without missing a beat.
